was created and designed by Diana Forbes. I met Diana at a
Softec
meeting at which she performed her technology comedy routine. At the time I was starting up a digital video production studio in San Luis Obispo and saw Gadget Grrl as a great character to develop into a show of some kind.
Diana was very savvy to her market and had several great ideas to promote and franchise the character so we had a big step up on development ideas.
My company invested a great deal of time, energy, and creativity to the development of the following clips. We ended up shooting twenty four 90-second spots and a half hour television show aimed at kids. We were set to go to The 2001 NAB convention in Florida on September 12, 2001. Needless to say we did not make the flight and the show. The bottom fell out of the commercial advertising market and no one was interested in a happy, fun show about technology at such a sombre time in our nation's history. The project was canceled and the investment lost. It was one of those contingencies you'd never think about covering in a business plan.
